Standard classes are about $15 - $20 a lesson and are 45 minutes long. Family classes are $25 each, and last for one hour and taught by Senior Faculty. KFK is a group class format and make-ups are not given for any reason. However, we have many classes running at area schools and students are welcome to attend their same level class at another school at any time. Call the office to request this information: 303-215-1535. Tuition may be paid online at www.KeyboardsForKids.com by logging into your account on our website or sending your paper-registration sheet with a check to P.O. Box 11999 Denver, CO 80211. A $10 processing fee is added to all refunds or withdrawals unless KFK cancels the class. Please allow 2 weeks to process the refund. A late fee of $15.00 per month will be imposed on overdue accounts.

2. Grouping and Class Size
All classes are multi-age. Students are grouped by age, skill level, and instrument; all classes maintain a minimum of 6 students with no more than 12 in keyboard, 18 in drum circle. Classes are sometimes re-grouped at our discretion to provide the best learning situation. Sometimes classes are moved up or back in the daily class schedule due to enrollment. Also, in beginning classes most students may a keyboard. There is more than enough room to share our 61-key keyboard with a class friend. We realize sharing can be a learning process with some children and ask that you support this socialization skill at home. In our Intermediate classes we do provide a single keyboard for every child. Please Note: We reserve the right to consolidate, cancel, or move any class at any time due to enrollment.

3. Parent Information Forms
Parents will be asked to fill out a Parent Information Form online and at the first class which will provide us with important information about contacting the family in case of an emergency, class change or cancellation, as well as information about food allergies and students that may need special accommodations. It is very important that this be completed and returned with as much detail as possible including two or more phone numbers and a valid email address.

4. Parents Expectations
Music students benefit greatly when parents are involved with their music education; we highly encourage parents to attend and actively participate in at least one lesson with their child, and to assist their children when practicing at home. Keyboards For Kids instructors are available to answer questions and can provide information on what parents can do to enrich their child’s experience with music class. Each week a Home Assignment Page, or practice suggestions, and musical activities are sent home in the student’s folder; parents should treat these as an important aspect of their child’s education, like school homework, and this should be read on a weekly basis. Our home assignments have a special place to initial your monitoring of their weekly practice. Please initial and return the HA to the KFK folder to turn in.

5. Children’s Expectations
Children should make every effort to participate in class and to listen when the instructor is speaking. We expect respectful behavior in our group classes and will notify the parents immediately for behavior issues. KFK reserves the right to dismiss any child at any time for behavior that is not conducive to optimum learning in the class. If a child becomes a behavior problem, is disrespectful to the teacher, not obeying the class rules, or the musical instruments, strong efforts will be made to remedy the situation in class. In the case of dismissal, a full refund of classes not yet attended but paid for will be given. Children are expected to practice at home and to complete their home assignments which are vital to their success in class. Folders and books must be brought every week, and we recommend that they be placed in the students backpack the night before music class.

6. Materials and Registration Fees
All students must pay an initial material fee to cover the cost of the text each semester, student supplies and recital fee. In most schools this is a yearly fee of $30/child or $40/family (two or more children or family class). In some schools we charge a semester material fee. In this situation the fee is lower $7-15/semester and must be paid at each semester upon enrolling. Sometimes students continue in our program they will occasionally need a new musical text book; it is the responsibility of the parents to purchase new books as they are not included in tuition after the text is given. For example: During Christmastime we offer supplemental books for sale however most supplemental texts and materials are at NO CHARGE if you pay your yearly material fee.. Also guitar classes occasionally offer additional texts. If a student loses a text book or folder, it is also the responsibility of the parent to purchase replacements in a timely manner.

7. Musical Instruments
Students enrolled in music classes other than keyboards and drum circle: such as violin or guitar must have their own instrument that is the correct size for their height. Student instruments can be inexpensively purchased or rented at the Golden Music Center in Golden, CO, ph. 303-279-1111, where they provide a discount for Keyboards for Kids students. It is very important that the instrument be the correct size as it can be frustrating and defeating for a child attempting to learn on an instrument that is too large or too small. Guitar students need nylon strings, a button (about $6) and a strap. Additionally, a music stand, portable and foldable is a great help for students as well.

8. Withdrawing from Keyboards For Kids
Students are given a two-week grace period at the beginning of each Keyboards For Kids Semester to evaluate the class offered. Students may withdraw for a full refund of future unused classes within the first two weeks of class; afterwards the parent and students must make the commitment to pay for and actively finish the session (usually 8-10 weeks). Material fees are never refundable. If you received any folder or book from KFK, and withdraw, those are yours to keep. Keyboards For Kids is always happy to answer any questions or concerns, and can be reached at 303-215-1535. We make every effort to ensure that our classes are a positive, enriching experience for every parent and child involved.

9. Make-up Classes
If a student misses a class for any reason, they are welcome to attend a similar class on a different day at one of the 23 schools where our program is offered. You must contact us at 303-215-1535 for dates, times, and to reserve a spot if you wish to take advantage of this offer. If a Keyboards For Kids class is cancelled due to weather or other conflicts such as parent-teacher conferences, we will provide a make-up class or tuition refund at our discretion. Parents and students will be notified in advance of the make-up class, and students are expected to attend per our attendance policy. As we are not private lessons, no individual circumstances or situations are considered; as no make-ups lessons or classes are offered for individual missed classes.

10. Age Requirements
Students who wish to take violin lessons must be in 1st grade or up, and students interested in guitar lessons must be 2nd grade or up. Drum building is for first grade and up. Regular keyboard classes start at Kindergarten. If your child is too young to meet our age requirement, we highly encourage you to enroll them in a basic keyboard class which will provide them with a good musical foundation for when they are old enough to begin the guitar or violin. We have fun, educational keyboard classes specifically tailored for pre-school – 2nd grade aged children.

11. Complimentary Childcare (Waiters)
Students who attend Keyboards For Kids music classes that do not take place directly after school have the option of being a ‘waiter.’ Instructors will provide the ‘waiters’ with a place to work in the classroom as well as some activities those who do not have homework or a book to read. These students will be supervised by the instructor and will be encouraged to start their homework; they are expected to wait quietly until their time comes for music class. We do not charge any additional fee for this service, and our only requirement is that the children who wait are self-sufficient and well-behaved. If for any reason a child is not able to independently wait for the class, parents are notified and other childcare arrangements must be made. Teachers primary responsibility it to teach the class at hand.

12. Picking Children Up From Their Keyboards For Kids Class
Students must be picked up promptly following their Keyboards For Kids class. A fee of $1.00 a minute will be imposed on parents or guardians who, without notice, fail to pick up their children within five minutes of the class-times scheduled end. We understand that occasionally there are problems with work, traffic, and weather so it is very important that parents contact our office at 303-215-1535 if they are going to be late. Teachers are paid by the hour and must be compensated if they are to wait and supervise your child until you arrive for pick-up.

13. Releasing Students from Their Keyboards For Kids Class
Students may only be released from their music class to parents or guardians authorized on the Parent Information Form / On-line Registration. If a student needs to be released to somebody who is not authorized, a parent must call and inform our office at 303-215-1535 in addition to sending a signed note with their child to music class. Parents or guardians must present themselves to pick up their children at the music class as students will not be released to the parking lot.
